The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, established in 2021, aims to foster knowledge sharing through domain experts, value-added courses, and collaborative learning. With world-class infrastructure, a futuristic curriculum, hands-on experience, and industry-connect programs, the department prepares students to excel in data science. The UG program is designed to provide a strong theoretical foundation, enabling students to develop customized algorithms for deriving insights from large data sets, addressing the growing demand for data-driven decision-making in businesses. The program curriculum equips students with essential data-related skills such as Python programming, statistical analysis, predictive analytics, and data visualization. With a focus on design-oriented teaching, the department ensures students are prepared for diverse career opportunities as Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Data Analysts, Machine Learning Engineers, and Data Architects. Additionally, it nurtures an entrepreneurial spirit, offering students the tools to succeed in high-demand roles with lucrative salary packages in the future.

Program Outcomes
POs describe what students are expected to know or be able to do by the time of graduation from the program. At the time of their graduation, the B.E. Computer Science and Engineering students will have the following abilities.
PO 1. Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
PO 2. Identify, formulate, research literature, and analyse complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
PO 3. Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
PO 4. Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
PO 5. Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modelling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
PO 6. Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
PO 7. Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
PO 8. Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.

The Multimodal Information Laboratory at IFET’s AI and Data Science Department is a state-of-the-art facility designed to equip students with hands-on experience in advanced data processing techniques. The lab specializes in integrating and analyzing data from diverse modalities such as text, image, audio, and video, fostering a multidisciplinary approach to problem-solving. With cutting-edge tools and industry-standard software, the lab empowers students to explore innovative solutions in fields like predictive analytics, natural language processing, and computer vision.
